This mobile kiosk was a multimedia recording space funded by the City of Portland to engage its residents with questions about the city's future. Working with local non-profit media group, Public Media Works, this project included two atmospheres for this dialogue to take place: an online virtual environment, and the structure itself, a mobile, tactile gateway to the digital.
While the scrim element was designed to attract and educates its visitors with key civic milestones it also served to obscure views to help users focus on the survey software and interpretative film. Text, audio, and image data submitted in this space was uploaded to the accompanying website where the public can preview and submit their own responses.
The project sought out public opinions at over 25 public venues throughout Portland over a three month period. It was designed, constructed, and maintained entirely through donated services and materials and support from the city.
